Plant Based Lifestyles
Many think of Vegans and Vegatarien as crazy people who throw red paint at people who wear real animal fur coats or protestors that continue to tell people that they are murdering millions of animals by eating meat. Though that may be true, I think it’s important to understand that the meat, dairy, and egg industry have a ton of implications on the environment, our health, and the history of endangered species.
Did you know that meat production requires more water then vegetables?! The IME states that to produce 1kg of meat requires between 5,000 and 20,000 litres of water whereas to produce 1kg of wheat requires between 500- 4,000 litres of water. Yes, 1kg of meat is more calorie dense than 1kg of wheat- however 1kg of wheat is filled with protein, fiber, and other key nutrient that can’t be found in meat.
I believe that every doctor would say that we need to still eat fruits, vegetables, beans, legumes, grains, and other plant based foods are key parts of living a healthy life. You cannot and will never be able to get all of your necessary key nutrient from just eating meat. That were the health implications of a plant based diet comes into play.
