These past four months have been life changing! This month, I decided to take my transition to the next level by participating in #PlasticFreeJuly! In honor of this challenge, I will attempt to eliminate all of the plastic from my life. This includes both disposables and reusable plastic containers.
I've wanted to embark on this challenge for a while, but thought it wouldn't be possible since I currently live with my parents. I think it's important to show the positive and negative aspects of living as a zero waster with others who aren't part of the lifestyle. One positive would be that I could fit all of my trash into a small mason jar!
This picture is of the trash jar that I started when I began my zero waste journey. I quickly realized that I had a long way to go before limiting myself to a Mason Jar.
During the next month, I will only be putting the trash I make into the jar. This means that any is created from meals, travel, and other things that my family brings into the house will not go into the jar.
During the next month, I will also be reviewing a ton of products that will help make your transition to a zero waste lifestyle a little bit easier. In these reviews, I will be highlighting how awesome etsy.com is, and your ability purchase anything at your finger tips, while supporting small businesses. Usually I say go for local shops to help reduce your carbon footprint. I haven't been able to find a lot of the necessities, especially a bamboo toothbrush, at any of my local shops. More info to come, including reviews, discount codes, and giveaways!
I began the zero waste lifestyle because it's a postive and inspirational way of life. I can't wait to see how #PlasticFreeJuly effects my life and the nation as a whole!
