When I began my zero waste journey, I was on the hunt for some natural and effective deodorant. I had tried many different kinds of natural alternatives, but they all gave me bad body odor an hour after application. A couple of months later I found Florapothecarie's deodorant cream! Florapothecarie is a CT brand run by a woman named Sami Jo Jensen, who is dedicated to homemade, vegan, natural, and sustainable face, body, and hair care products. It started in 2009, when she discovered her favorite body wash contained a host of ingredients that she couldn't pronounce. In researching these chemicals, she found many of them were linked to skin ailments from rashes and irritations to cancer and birth defects. She made the switch and now you should too!
The deodorant cream is my favorite product that I have tried thus far. It contains Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Arrowroot Powder, Baking Soda, Candelilla wax, Orange Essential Oil, Bergamot Essential Oil, and Tea Tree Oil. Most deodorants contain aluminum compounds, paragons, setters, propylene glycol, TEA and DEA, and artificial colors. These ingredients have been linked to the development of Alzheimer, hormonal imbalance, cancer, and other lifelong issues. I have included some great articles that go more in-depth into the issues of each ingredient and why you should switch to natural deodorants.
I understand that many don't like natural deodorants because they don't stop them from sweating. Sweating is a natural part of the human body, because it helps you cool off and pull out the toxins from your body. By using deodorant that stops you from sweating, it actually messes up with your body chemistry. This deodorant cream allows me to keep sweating but without any the bad odor.
